The project

Every road has a story. Every town has a hidden gem. Every highway has a secret that never makes it into a travel blog. And no one knows them better than the people who spend their lives on the road. Across countries, continents, highways, mountain passes, deserts, ports, industrial corridors and forgotten villages, Tata Motors Commercial Vehicle drivers collectively travel millions of kilometres every year. They witness landscapes change, cultures blend, traditions thrive and communities evolve. They know the roadside dhaba with the best food, the hidden waterfall that doesn't appear on maps, the safest night halt, the local festival that transforms a small town, the scenic route tourists never discover and the stories that exist between destinations. Yet this knowledge remains undocumented. Guide on Wheels is an initiative that transforms Tata Motors' driver community into the world's largest network of local travel storytellers. A first-of-its-kind digital platform where commercial vehicle drivers record their journeys, observations, local stories, recommendations and travel insights as voice notes. These are then curated into audio guidebooks, route stories and destination podcasts for travellers across the world. The people who move the world become the people who narrate it.
